ultramarathon

Do hard things.

The Freedom 50 Ultramarathon is an annual 50-mile, and 50k race held on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, with this year’s event scheduled for May 23, 2025. For both distances, the race starts and finishes at Diamond Detail in downtown Puyallup, Washington.

Participants will traverse the scenic Foothills Trail from Puyallup towards South Prairie for the 50k and all the way to the edge of Enumclaw for the 50 miler.

The entire course is paved, making it ideal for road shoes, and presents minimal elevation changes aside from minor variations near Buckley.

To support runners throughout the race, aid stations will be located every 4-8 miles and will provide food, water, and electrolytes to ensure participants remain fueled and hydrated. The event has a 15-hour time limit, accommodating those who may need or prefer to walk portions of the course.

Whether you’re aiming to complete your first ultramarathon or striving for a personal record, the Freedom 50 offers a supportive and scenic environment and ultramarathon distances to challenge your limits and celebrate the spirit of running.

50 Mile Race

50 Milers will follow the same start as the 50k course in Puyallup and continue on to the most scenic section of the Foothills Trail up to the edge of Enumclaw getting a chance to run over the new White River bridge. Runners will see all four aid stations twice (8 total stops plus the finish line aid station) with the last one located at Memorial Park in Buckley by the Veterans monument. The first half of the course features a very slight ascent, while the return journey offers a gentle, almost unnoticeable decline, allowing runners to finish strong back in Puyallup.

50k Race

The 50K course is Fast, Flat and beautiful. From Diamond Detail, runners take the Puyallup Riverwalk trail and the Shaw Road bridge and cross through Van Lierop Farm to link up with the Foothills Trail. There will be two fully stocked aid stations along the way out and two again along the way back to the finish. This is a great course to accomplish your first Ultramarathon or improve upon your previous best 50k pace.
